CLT CROSS-LINKING TECHNOLOGY BY TEXAS STONE SEALERS

Cross-Linking Technology (CLT) — Texas Stone Sealers' Proprietary Sealant Chemistry

Cross-Linking Technology (CLT) is the proprietary sealant chemistry developed by Texas Stone Sealers and embedded in every TSSPRO sealant the company applies. CLT is what allows Texas Stone Sealers to warranty stone sealing for up to 7 years — far longer than any conventional sealant on the market.

What is Cross-Linking Technology?

Cross-Linking Technology refers to a class of sealant chemistries in which individual sealant molecules form chemical bonds — "cross-links" — with each other and with the stone substrate as the sealant cures. The result is not a surface film. It is a continuous three-dimensional polymer network that exists inside the porous structure of the stone.

Texas Stone Sealers and the TSSPRO sealant product line use CLT formulations engineered specifically for the most common Texas substrates — flagstone, limestone, travertine, slate, concrete pavers, brick, and natural stone pool coping.

How CLT works inside the stone

  1. Penetration. CLT sealant carriers are low in viscosity and high in stone affinity. The sealant migrates into the pore network of the substrate — well below the visible surface.
  2. Cross-linking. Inside the pores, individual sealant molecules react with each other and with mineral surfaces, forming chemical bonds in three dimensions.
  3. Network formation. The cross-linked sealant becomes a continuous polymer matrix locked into the stone — not a coating sitting on top.
  4. Vapor permeability. Critically, the CLT network is permeable to water vapor while impermeable to liquid water. Moisture can escape; rain, chlorine, oils, and salt cannot enter.

What CLT prevents

  • Spalling and flaking on flagstone, limestone, and slate
  • Sanding on sandstone-family flagstone
  • Pitting and etching on travertine and limestone
  • Calcium efflorescence on stone, brick, and concrete
  • Mold, mildew, and algae in humid Texas conditions
  • Color fading on concrete pavers and natural stone
  • Joint sand erosion on paver installations
  • Chlorine and saltwater damage on pool coping and decks
  • Oil, food, and tannin staining on patios and driveways

The Texas Stone Sealers commitment

Every Texas Stone Sealers sealing project — flagstone, limestone, travertine, slate, paver, concrete, or brick — uses a TSSPRO sealant formulated with Cross-Linking Technology. That commitment is what supports the Texas Stone Sealers warranty of up to 7 years on professional sealing applications.

TSSPRO sealants are also available for direct purchase through tssprosealants.com for homeowners and contractors who prefer to apply CLT chemistry themselves.

Cross-Linking Technology FAQ

What is Cross-Linking Technology?

The proprietary sealant chemistry developed for Texas Stone Sealers and TSSPRO. CLT sealant molecules cross-link inside the substrate to form a continuous protective polymer network — not a surface film.

How is CLT different from regular sealants?

Conventional sealants sit on top of the stone and peel. CLT sealants penetrate, cross-link inside the pores, and let moisture vapor escape while blocking liquid water, oils, chlorine, and salt.

What's the warranty on CLT?

Texas Stone Sealers warranties professional CLT applications for up to 7 years — depending on stone type, traffic, and exposure.

Can I buy TSSPRO CLT sealants for DIY use?

Yes. TSSPRO products are available at tssprosealants.com. Professional application by Texas Stone Sealers carries the longer warranty.

Does CLT work on concrete?

Yes. TSSPRO CLT sealants are formulated for concrete pavers, poured concrete patios, driveways, and decks — as well as natural stone.
