Pressure washing and soft washing are not interchangeable. Pressure washing uses high-pressure water — typically 1,500 to 4,000 PSI — to mechanically remove dirt, grime, oils, and biological growth from durable surfaces. Soft washing uses low pressure (under 500 PSI) combined with biodegradable cleaning solutions to gently remove mold, mildew, algae, and lichen from delicate substrates.
Generic pressure washing damages soft, porous stone. Flagstone surfaces in particular can be permanently sanded out by overpressurized water. Texas Stone Sealers selects pressure, tip, distance, and chemistry based on substrate — never one setting for every job.

The Texas Stone Sealers cleaning method
- Surface assessment. Texas Stone Sealers identifies substrate, contaminants (mold, mildew, oil, efflorescence), and any existing sealant or coating.
- Method selection. Soft-wash, conventional pressure wash, soda blasting, or a combination — selected to clean effectively without damage.
- Pre-treatment. Biodegradable cleaning solutions kill mold, mildew, and algae at the spore level. Oils and embedded stains receive degreasing pre-treatment.
